The More You Grow ("we," "our," or "us") operates the The More You Grow mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account.
- Profile Information: Profile photo, bio, and garden description.
- Garden & Address Information: Garden address, pickup address, pickup instructions, and (for buyers) delivery address, used to facilitate local produce and plant-start transactions.
- Payment Information: Payment details are collected and processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card numbers on our servers.
- Order Information: Details about orders you place or fulfill, including quantities, prices, pickup or delivery preferences, and order history.
- Reviews and Reports: Reviews you leave after orders, and the contents of any abuse or safety report you submit through the App (including the reason and the account being reported).
Information Collected Automatically
- Location Data: With your permission, we collect your device's location to show nearby harvests and gardeners. You can disable location access in your device settings.
- Device & Push Notification Information: Device type, operating system, and a push notification token that we store on our servers so we can send order updates, follow notifications, and account messages. Push tokens are removed when you sign out or delete your account.
- Usage Data: App usage patterns and crash reports via Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to improve the App.
- Photos: With your permission, we access your camera and photo library for profile photos and harvest images. Photos are uploaded to our servers for display in the App.
- Security Data: We track failed login attempts on your account for lockout protection and use the IP address of incoming requests to operate rate limiting. IP addresses are processed transiently for this purpose and are not used to build a profile of your activity.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account.
- To connect gardeners with neighbors looking for fresh, local produce and plant starts.
- To process orders and facilitate payments through Stripe.
- To send push notifications about order updates, new harvests from gardeners you follow, and account activity.
- To display nearby harvests and gardeners based on your location.
- To improve the App through analytics and crash reporting.
- To send transactional emails (order confirmations, email verification, password resets, follow digests).
- To verify gardener identities through Stripe Identity (optional).
- To review user reports, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the safety of the community.
How We Share Your Information
- With Other Users: Gardener accounts have a public profile (display name, photo, bio, garden description, active listings, ratings, and approximate location) that is visible to other users and discoverable through search. When you leave a review, your display name and review text appear on the reviewed gardener's public profile. A gardener's exact garden or pickup address is shared only with buyers who have placed an order with that gardener; a buyer's delivery address is shared only with the gardener fulfilling the order.
- Stripe: Payment and identity verification data is shared with Stripe for processing transactions securely.
- SendGrid: Your email address is shared with SendGrid for delivering transactional emails. When you submit an abuse or safety report, the contents of that report — including your name and email — are sent to our support team via SendGrid.
- Beehiiv: If you opt in to our newsletter, we share your email address (and first name when available) with Beehiiv to deliver newsletter emails. We send Beehiiv only the contact information needed to add or remove you from the list. You can unsubscribe at any time from the Notifications screen in the App or by using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email.
- Firebase: Anonymous usage data and crash reports are shared with Firebase (Google) for analytics.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect our rights.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by Railway and Neon (PostgreSQL). Short-lived access tokens are kept on your device using encrypted storage; longer-lived refresh tokens are stored on your device and, in hashed form, on our servers so we can rotate and revoke them. We use HTTPS for all data transmission and follow industry-standard security practices, including rate limiting and account-lockout protection on failed login attempts.
Your Rights
- Access & Update: You can view and update your personal information in the App's Profile and Settings screens.
- Delete Your Account: You can delete your account at any time. See Account Deletion below for the in-app and email-based options, and for details on what is removed versus retained.
- Location: You can disable location access at any time through your device settings.
- Notifications: You can manage push notification preferences in your device settings or, where available, in the App's Profile screen.
Account Deletion
You can delete your The More You Grow account at any time. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Delete from inside the app (preferred)
Open the app, go to Profile, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm twice. Deletion takes effect immediately.
Request deletion by email
If you no longer have access to the app, email support@themoreyougrowpdx.com from the email address on your account with the subject line "Delete my account". We'll verify the request and delete your account within 7 business days.
What we delete
- Your account credentials (email, password hash) and profile photo.
- Your profile information: name, bio, garden description, garden address, pickup address, delivery address, and instructions.
- Your harvests, crops, and listings.
- Newsletter subscription (we remove you from Beehiiv).
- Push notification tokens for your devices.
- Follows, followers, and notification preferences.
What we retain
We may keep a limited set of records as required by law or to operate the service responsibly:
- Transaction records: Order summaries, payment intent IDs, and tax-related data, retained per U.S. tax and accounting rules.
- Stripe records: Information held by Stripe under their own retention policy for financial-services compliance.
- Safety records: Information needed to enforce our Terms of Service, address fraud or abuse, or respond to lawful requests.
- Reviews you left: Reviews may remain visible on a gardener's public profile with your display name replaced by "Deleted user," because they are part of the reviewed gardener's reputation record.
Retention periods vary by record type but generally do not exceed seven years (the standard limit for U.S. tax records).
Children's Privacy
The App is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Oregon-Specific Provisions
The More You Grow operates in Portland, Oregon. Produce sold through the App is unprocessed and sold directly from gardener to buyer under Oregon's Farm Direct Marketing rules. Live plant starts sold through the App are nursery stock subject to Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) rules; gardeners are responsible for any nursery licensing that applies to their sales volume.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the App.
